Building and Grounds Guidelines
September 24, 2007
The buildings and grounds of the parish are the sole responsibility of the pastor of the parish. The pastor is responsible for the upkeep of the parish property.
The pastor has delegated this responsibility to the Business Manager of the parish. This is the normal business model for parishes throughout the Diocese of Columbus.
The parish has hired a maintenance man, who reports directly to the Business Manager.
All current or future plans for work on our buildings and grounds must go through the Business Manager, who will direct the work of the maintenance man.
The maintenance man does not report to parishioners, nor is he expected to take direction from parishioners. He takes direction only from the Business Manager.
All requests for approval for work on the parish's buildings and grounds do not normally go through the pastor or the maintenance man, but must first go through the Business Manager.
The Business Manager consults with the Pastor on a regular basis regarding all current and future work on the parish's buildings and grounds. All approval for work rests with the pastor.
The Pastor and the Business Manager also rely upon parish groups and individuals regarding the management of the parish's current and future buildings and grounds, particularly the maintenance committee, planning committee, finance committee, Parish Council, and parish staff.
Plans for future work on the parish property, that is, long range future master planning is to be guided directly by the Planning Committee, in concert with the Finance Committee and Parish Council, and in conjunction with future capital campaigns.
