Growing in Faith Together

St. John Neumann... it started when a small group of friends were called to worship together. These Catholic faithful reached out to the community, responding to a call to evangelize. This is the cornerstone of our parish, of our faith.

As we continue to grow in numbers, the Growing in Faith Together program provides a vehicle that fosters friendships in small faith communities. It is designed to reach people at all ages and any point in their faith journey. Groups are organized following registration. Small groups meet in their homes and use selected resources for discussion, faith sharing and prayer.

We have registrations twice a year, in the spring and fall. Because of the program flexibility, you will be able to start a new group, join an existing group or change to another group, day or time.

Joining the small group faith sharing program will help introduce new parishioners to existing parishioners. It provides an opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to share faith and prayer. It generates an enthusiasm for gathering together in Christ, opening our hearts to Christ, introducing Christ to others and being part of the body of Christ. Please join us as we continue on our faith journey with Christ.

Selection of faith sharing materials to choose from:

  • Cenacle Formation Manual. This is a guide to becoming a Eucharistic Apostle of The Divine Mercy. We will meet in small groups for fellowship, deepen our Catholic faith through the message of the Divine Mercy, and grow in our spirituality through the practice of Divine Mercy in the family and workplace.
  • Fr. Oscar Lukefahr, C.M. Series. A series of 6 in depth and thought-provoking books, with topics as diverse as “Christ’s Mother and Ours,” to “Catholic Guide to the Bible.” Each book has a workbook, discussion questions and suggested activities related to each session.
  • The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Gifts. "In an increasingly bible-reading and bible praying church these helpful books combine solid biblical information and challenging suggestions for prayer."
  • How Do Catholics Read The Bible? Written by a well known biblical scholar, this book is for groups who want to understand how the Catholic relationship to God’s Word differs from our Protestant brethren. Provides history of the bible within our church, including discussion of the Vatican II document Dei Verbum "Word of God."
  • Rocking the Cradle Catholic. A great choice for “Faith and Family” a program for parents waiting for children attending PSR. Also for any other group wishing to focus on the joy, duty, and responsibility of raising children in the Catholic Church.
  • The Growing Faith Project. This has provided a number of groups with the foundation for exploring our faith. The series has 48 topic booklets ranging from prayer to the sacraments, based on catechism but spoken of in practical terms. Groups may continue in the series, or start from the beginning.
  • Essentials of the Faith. This is more than a brilliant guide to the catechism. It is also a practical handbook for putting those teachings into daily life.
  • Why Catholic Christian Prayer. This resource of four books, each providing 12 faith sessions is a more structured way to explore the topics of faith sharing, scripture reading, the catechism and spontaneous prayer.
  • The Impact Series. The series of booklets is divided into 4 families of human and spiritual concerns; Sacramental Pathways; Faith in Daily Life; Spiritual Awakenings; and Discipleship in Action. It focuses on human issues around social justice.
  • Longing For The Holy. A wonderful choice for those who really like to share and are open to exploring their interior lives. This series asks participants to be very reflective and open, so a strong level of trust must be established in the group.
  • Living Like Francis Today. Can we really live like a saint today? This booklet offers lessons on the life of St. Francis. There are guided reflections for modeling ourselves according to the teaching of this saint. .
  • Sunday By Sunday. This is for groups who would like to discuss in advance the readings they hear at Sunday mass. Each issue begins with what each of us knows best—our own life experience.
