The Catholic Church is a Pro-Life Church. Blessed Pope John Paul II asked us to be “a people of life and a people for life” (The Gospel of Life, no.78).
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has selected the theme “Be Not Afraid” for Respect Life month this year.
The Respect Life Committee strives to build a culture of life, and uphold and promote the dignity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death. Please join us in upcoming pro-life events at St. John Neumann:
40 Days for Life Campaign
From September 27 to November 5, 2017, our community will take part in 40 Days for Life … a groundbreaking, coordinated international mobilization. We pray that, with God’s help, this will mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our city — and beyond. Our vigil will take place at Founders’ Women’s Health, 1243 E. Broad Street, Columbus.
March for Life Pilgrimage Washington, D.C. January 17-20, 2018
Please prayerfully consider joining the St. John Neumann Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. for March for Life. In the march, hundreds of thousands from across the U.S. are united with a strong voice to speak against the 45 years of legalized abortion and the injustice it has been upon women, men, children and this great county of ours.
This is a life changing pilgrimage. It is a place where eyes are opened to truth, tragedy and sorrow. Hearts are set on fire to spread the gospel of life. Broken hearts are mended for those who were told abortion would set them free only find they were chained to the choice they were forced to make. You will find the courage and support that you need to stand against what our laws allow and society promotes.
Some of the events we may be attending include the March for Life Convention, a Mass at the Basilica, the March for Life Rally, and the March for Life to the Supreme Court steps. We will tour the country’s national monuments, commemorating our founders’ belief in life, liberty and justice. We hope to visit the Holocaust museum. Our itinerary is tentative and could change. We will keep up with last-minute events planned by national pro-life leaders, and participate in what we can.
